GSP: Next time it is going to be Hendricks – Boxing News
Georges St-Pierre is scheduled to face his nemesis Nick Diaz net year at UFC 158. While GSP believes it is a fight fans would love, number one contender Johny Hendricks believes he deserved the shot. GSP, ever ready for a fight, did not turn down Hendricks’
offer.
“Hendricks, no problem. Next time it’s going to be Hendricks. I cannot split myself in half,” said GSP to The Canadian Press.
“Because if I were to fight Hendricks now, Diaz would complain and people would complain. But the big fight right now is Nick Diaz.”
For GSP, Hendricks is not a ‘problem’ but the latter feels that way. According to GSP, he will fight Hendricks once he is done with his archrival Nick Diaz.
“When I beat Diaz, now people are going to say ’Now it’s Hendricks, why don’t you want me?’ Someone else will complain. It’s like that. When you have the title, people complain.”
It seems like GSP is in for some great fights, unlike middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who believes he does not have a worthwhile opponent in the division.
“It’s a very stacked competition, the welterweights. Especially now because I just came back from a long time off so I haven’t defended my title for a long time.”
For now, Georges St-Pierre is ready to take on his long time rival Nick Diaz. For Diaz, it is an opportunity to defeat the best in the business, GSP. On the other hand, GSP believes a fight against Nick Diaz is something that would excite fans.
Johny Hendricks is the number one contender for the welterweight title. GSP overlooked him and booked a showdown against Nick Diaz, believing it is a fight for the fans. If GSP is able to defeat Diaz, he will be facing Hendricks next, which will again be
a super-fight, as we will get to the see a knockout specialist fight a grappling specialist.
Hopefully, GSP will make good out of the fight against Diaz, in order to pursue future super-fights, such as a fight between GSP and Anderson Silva and a fight between Hendricks and GSP.
