GSP’s coach admires middleweight champion Anderson Silva – UFC News
While welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre stands a rival to middleweight champion Anderson Silva, the former’s coach does not have bitter words for the ‘Spider’. In fact, Greg Jackson, GSP’s coach, believes Silva is one of the best mixed martial artists
in the world.
In his recent interview to TATAME, Jackson spoke of Silva’s fighting skills and the various moves the ‘Spider’ makes that are unique to the sport.
“I'm a big fan of Anderson Silva,” said Jackson. “I love watching him fight. He is a wonderful martial artist who does a lot without being orthodox, like hitting people with leg and a series of scams that you never see anyone else doing and I really like
that kind of thing.”
Silva, who is being eyed by President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White for an encounter with GSP, is an unbeaten middleweight fighter under the UFC banner. His last fight was against Stephan Bonnar, a legendary UFC fighter, where Silva was
able to defeat the latter via knockout in the second round.
Following Silva’s victory over Bonnar, many analysts rated him as the best fighter in the world.
“I do not know if this fight will happen soon, but if it happens, I will do everything to prepare GSP the best possible way so that he can win this superfight,” said Jackson when asked about Silva’s possible super-fight against Georges St-Pierre.
As of now, Silva is not scheduled for a fight anytime soon. Chances are that the ‘Spider’ will take on Georges St-Pierre next year, once The Rush is done with his long time rival Nick Diaz.
On the other hand, Silva might go head to head against Briton mixed martial artist Michael Bisping, who has been calling out the champion for quite some time now. If Bisping is able to defeat Vitor Belfort, he will surely get a shot at Silva.
Silva stands as an inspiration to others for evolving the sport to a level where others learn from him. The Brazilian fighter’s skills are unparalleled and there is no one in the organization right now who can defeat him. The only person who can give him
a tough fight is Georges St-Pierre.
