GTA IV - dodge cars?

Question

In GTA 3 and Vice City I remember being able to press the jump button and sideways and my guy would jump out of the way of a car within a certain distance from it. And I just recently saw it today when I was playing. Like say the car was comin at a reasonable slow speed up to an intersection and i was there in the middle of the road, i'd press jump and sideways and my guy would jump/dive out of the way of the moving vehicle. I've also seen pedestrians roll out of the way of cars.

Anyone know how to do this or if its even possible?

No, I don't remember being able to that in GTA 3, but you can't do in this game, It would've came in handy many times... I mean many..

My advice is to sprint away, once you get use to dodging by sprinting, it'll come as a second nature. thats all I can really help you with.
