GTA San Andreas PC lagging! Help!

Ok, I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop PC. I am not sure what the specs are, but they should be more than enough to run San Andreas, seeing as how I have had other, more graphically heavy games work on the laptop smoothly, such as BioShock, System Shock 2, Hitman 2, and Unreal Tournament 2004. Yet, San andreas lags horribly. Can anyone help me get it running smoothly? It mainly lgs when I am near alot of pedestrians or cars.

  1. Video Card is not powerful enough.

and don't bother looking for video cards for laptops, it's almost impossible to install one.

  2. It would be best if you could post what kind of graphics card you're using and your processor. But without that, it seems that the problem may be with your graphics card.

Looking at the Dell website, it seems that your laptop has an ATI card. Noooooooot exactly the best card due to its deminishing support by PC game developers. NVIDIA seems to be better.

I don't own GTA: SA but I would recommend turning most of the effects off, like shaders, shadows, physics. If you can't turn it off, or don't want to, just turn the shaders and physics off and keep others on low. The rest of the graphics can be anywhere from medium to high.

If that helps by a small margin, it could mean instead that your processor isn't powerful enough.
