Question:

GVP or CHI? HELP PLEASE!?

Alright, I got a 'FHI' straightener yesterday and it doesn't work that great so I'm taking it back. I want a CHI. But I found a GVP (a rip-off chi) and I was interested in it. I don't really care about the price of the straightener, just the quality. I have super thick, very curly hair and I need something that won't take hours to do. So I need to know what works better the CHI or the GVP and why?

I want the pink Camo one if I get the CHI. Where can I find this:

But not online? If I do get it from that website though, how long will it take to ship (I live in Arizona).

Thanks :)

PS- what are the pros and cons of a CHI?

  1. I have really curly hair too. (Its strange, but some days its really thick, others its not...)

I love my CHI. It's 110% worth every penny.

I don't think it matters whether you buy it online or at a store, just make sure it's really a CHI.

    Pros of a CHI:

Skinny. I find it helps a lot when trying to get closer at the top, especially with super curly hair likes yours [and mine].

Heats up REALLY fast. Like, almost completely heated within 30 seconds. Very convenient for early morning straightening. :P

Smooth sides on the plates. It really helps stop split ends since your hair doesn't get stuck on the bottoms.

    Cons of a CHI:

Can't straighten when your hair is wet. First, it makes a nasty sound. I know its the water, but its terribly bad for your hair. Second, although I've never experienced it, friends have had their straighteners break because they straightened while their hair was damp. I'm not sure how it happened, but if it happened to several people, it's definitely something I'd watch out for. If you take care of it though, you should be fine. I've had my straightener for over a year, I use it every day, and it looks and works like it did the day I bought it.

So what I'm saying is: Buy it. It's a quality straightener. You'll love it and it will do WONDERS for your hair compared to other straighteners. :)

  2. You don't need the most expensive straighterner to get the results you want.  My stylist uses a very inexpensive one, but with ceramic plates.  That's the key.  Check out straighteners that have a rounded plate that you can control for straight and/or curl to the hair.  Revlon and Conair make such units.  Good luck!
