Gabor Veto successfully defends his Global Boxing Union title against Justin Juuko – Boxing News
Gabor Veto, the current German International and Global Boxing Union light welterweight champion, grabbed an impressive rather intimidating win over Ugandan Justin Juuko and defended his Global Boxing Union title for the third consecutive time, in a 12-round
bout held on April 21, 2012.
The above duo headlined the pay-per-view which was jointly promoted by Franco Passanante of VIP Boxing Coira and Stjepan Herzeg of BoxKlub. The ring for the event was stretched at Hotel Marsoel situated in Chur, Switzerland and the night was co-headlined
by the Global Boxing Union heavyweight championship bout.
Veto, 23, was entering the ring with an impressive resume but was still overshadowed by his opponent’s experience. The Hungarian proud Gabor was entering in his career’s 28th bout and boasted a long win streak.
The young lad has never lost even a single bout and has nailed 22 of his opponents by sheer knockout. Veto is the former WBC youth World lightweight champion and grabbed the Global Boxing Union and German International light welterweight titles after collecting
a huge win over Michael Kizza.
Later on, he defended his dual titles against heavily experienced Thomas Hengstberger and collected a fifth round technical knockout win. This was the young Hungarian’s third title defence bout.
His Saturday night opponent, Justin, was in his 57th career bout and boasted 45 wins, 30 of them via knockout. The 39-year-old Ugandan, also known as ‘The Destroyer’, has won many titles in his illustrious career but recently had been following
a downward trend as far as the title bouts are concerned.
The bout kicked off and Veto moved in speedily to initiate his attack. The young lad used his agility, footwork, and age factor optimally and threw well targeted fists frequently inflicting maximum damage to Justin’s face.
The attack was fierce and almost unstoppable so much so that Justin let his guard down because of the heavy battering. The second round kicked off and Justin, who was unable to recover from the first round pounding, started to get more punishment.
Justin did strive hard to connect one or two jabs but Veto’s speed was too much for him to handle as a result the bout became a somewhat one-sided sparring session. After the passage of two minutes and 14 seconds, Gabor threw a series of left and right hooks
that connected well and eventually blanked Justin’s senses out.
The bout was halted and was awarded to Veto via technical knockout since Justin was unsuccessful in breaking the 10-count. With this win, Veto has improved his stats to 28 wins in 29 bouts and Justin has collected his career’s 11th loss and 10th
via KO.
