Gabriel Milito and Jeffren Suarez back in Barcelona first team
On Thursday, two Barcelona players who were declared injured returned back to fitness as they came back from the winter break. The Argentinean centre back and the young Spanish forward Jeffren Suarez both had injuries before the Christmas holidays and now they have been declared fit after the medical tests.
Right at the end of the year 2010, the Catalan Giants received good news as now they could avail services from both the players. Jeffren Suarez got two injuries in a row and that is the reason why he was not seen playing for the Spanish Champions. However, the youngster did feature in one of the greatest matches in the Spanish La Liga, the ‘El Clasico’, and he also scored the last goal of the game. Later, he dislocated his shoulder during a game against a second tier club Ceuta as Barcelona were tied up against them during the Spanish Cup first round.
Despite the fact, Jeffren made a comeback after that shoulder injury and was benched during the last group game of the UEFA Champions League. The Russian side Rubin Kazan were to visit the Catalan Giants in a not-so-important game; that is the reason why Josep Guardiola decided to play a very young team. The Spanish forward started the game, but unfortunately had to leave the pitch early as he suffered from a groin strain.
The Spaniard suffered a very serious groin strain in the 11th minute of the Rubin Kazan game, which took place on December 7th 2010. The 22-year-old was substituted for a Barca B striker named Victor Vazquez. Luckily, for Barcelona, Victor Vazquez later found himself on the goal-scoring chart as the Spanish Champions won the game 2-0 in their home ground, the Nou Camp.
Josep Guardiola mostly utilizes Jeffren Suarez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bojan-Krkic-c7794 as power subs, as both of them provide the team with great pace and good finishing techniques. The Catalan boss plays both these strikers in Cup games and tries to give them time in the Spanish League as well, as both of them require first team experience. Currently, Krkic and Suarez are two of the very few forwards that have come through the Barcelona youth ranks. So far, Josep Guardiola has played Jeffren in five games this season and the Spanish forward has found the net only once – that too against one of the toughest teams, Real Madrid.
On the other hand, the Argentinean centre back, Gabriel Milito has been out of action for quite a long time. The 30-year-old is usually utilized by Barcelona as a “second player”. With Eric Abidal, Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique all having the ability to play in the centre back position, the Argentinean barely gets a chance in the Barcelona first team. However, last season, when Barcelona were missing out on Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol during a UEFA Champions League game against Arsenal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Milito-c14321 teamed up with Eric Abidal in the centre, as Barcelona won the game 4-1 in their home ground, the Nou Camp.
Gabriel got injured in the 39th minute of Barcelona’s Cup game against Ceuta. The Spanish Champions won the game 5-1 and after the game, it was revealed that the Argentinean had damaged the femoral biceps of his right thigh. The game took place back on November 10th and since then the Argentinean has been trying to recover. He was declared fit back on 6th December 2010, but while training he was injured again and could not feature in the first team.
The 30-year-old has appeared five times for Barcelona this season and the reason why he does not feature often is that he was injured early on while Puyol and Pique have been very impressive in front of their goal. Barcelona, so far, have conceded the least amount of goals in the Spanish La Liga with the help of their captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique.
