Gabriel Obertan demands more opportunities
Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan has claimed he is ready for the task at Manchester United, following his impressive first appearance for the side in the UEFA Champions league on Wednesday.
The French Starlet made a substitute appearance for the side against Bursapor at Old Trafford, which the side won 1-0 thanks to a 25-yard goal from winger Nani. The player joined United last season, but couldn’t make an impact and managed only 17 appearances,
with only 2 starts. Obertan had an injury plagued season last time and had to prove his fitness for the Red Devils. However, Obertan managed a strong performance in the Champions league this week and now believes he is ready for the challenge at United.
With right winger Antonio Valencia injured for a long time owing to ankle break, Obertan would be welcomed in the camp. Ryan Giggs, who is 37, can also not play every match, with Obertan and Ji Sung Park the remaining recognized winger. Owing to this, Obertan
believes that the time is now for him to step up and play more games. The Frenchman added that he is just waiting for the manager to pick him any time soon.
"I need some games to get the rhythm back but I was happy with my performance. The team's performance is more important than mine, but I'm really happy to be back with the first-team squad. I am just waiting for more games now. I said to the coach I am ready,
so I'm just waiting for him to pick me", stated the French Starlet.
Obertan is an exciting young star for United and played extremely well whenever he had the ball. Obertan’s moment of last season was when he dodged the entire squad of CSKA Moscow to flick the ball to teammate Michael Owen in front of an empty goal. The
player has a bright future at the club and would want to keep working hard to get a nod by manager Sir Alex.
United have been boosted by the news of Wayne Rooney signing a 5-year contract with the side and would want to concentrate on get back in the title race. Obertan’s strong performance against Turkish Champions Bursapor can lead to him appearing in the next
week’s Carling Cup clash against Wolves and would want to get on the scoring or assist sheet in order to cement his place in the starting XI.
United face Stoke City away on Sunday and it has been confirmed that the French winger would be on the bench for the match.
