Vladimir Gabulov has hailed Anzhi Makhachkala’s latest UEFA Europa League win against Young boys and has told his critics that he does not keeps track of their statistics
Anzhi Makhachkala goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vladimir-Gabulov-c36341, was a stand-out performer in the latest group stage game of the UEFA Europa League against Young boys at Lokomotiv Moscow stadium on Thursday.
The prolific shot-stopper helped his side claim their first European win after keeping the opposition strikers at bay, after making a host of wonderful saves during the group stage match of the continental tournament.
Anzhi played the European encounter on the back of a 1-1 draw against Udinese at Stadio Friuli last week. As things stand, they are leading the standing in their respective group table above the likes of Liverpool, Udinese and
the Swiss side with 4 points.
Gabulov has hailed his side’s first European win against the Swiss Super League outfit, saying that the Makhachkala-based club worked so hard during the match and deservedly win against an organized opposition.
The former CSKA Moscow stopper went on to thank the home crowd for supporting him after a fine performance. However, he insisted that all he cares about is winning and nothing else.
“For me the stats do not matter. I thank the fans and the journalist for appreciating my efforts on the pitch but I am least concerned about my individual records. The fact that we won an important game is more important to me.
We showed quite confident game and stooped the opposition to make many chances during the enthralling European fixture.” The UEFA Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Gabulov went on talk about the earlier results in the cup competition, saying that Anzhi put in a lot of effort to prepare for the game against Young boys, despite their 5-3 defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC at Stade de Suisse.
“We prepared for the European game seriously and did not underestimate the opponents despite their earlier defeat. We put pressure right from the first minute to the last and won.” He said.
The Russian goalkeeper urged his side to win the next match against Dynamo Moscow on the away turf.
