French international, Gael Clichy has gone on to complete a move from Arsenal to Manchester City. The defender is believed to have made the switch as part of a deal worth around seven million pounds and in doing so, has become City’s first signing of the
season.
Following his arrival at the club, the player went on to admit that his motive to switching teams, was due to his hunger to land some silverware. Following six years without a trophy at the Emirates, the defender finally had it with the team and decided
to pen a four year contract at the Eastlands, in order to win some trophies in the near future.
When talking about his move, Clichy is quoted to have said: “I joined City because I want to win things, and you always progress with competition”
The player then went on to admit that it wasn’t going to be easy to adjust to life in Manchester, but he was going to try his best to fir in and give it his all.
Clichy then went on to add: “It’s going to be difficult but I can’t wait.

“I’m really excited, the stadium is great and I can’t wait to meet the lads. It’s a new life for me, a new chapter but I’m really looking forward to it because it’s an amazing challenge.”
However, it seemed like Clichy had been a City player for a while, as one of his first acts was to go ahead and launch an attack at Manchester United and its fans.
“I understand [City fans] are the people who live in Manchester, so it’s good I won’t be bothered by United fans.”
From the looks of things, Clichy might finally be happy after seeming to be sulking around the Emirates for the last two seasons.
However, what seems to be rather interesting, is the fact that in 2009 Clichy went on to state that the only players who join City are those who are looking to pocket money and not really achieve much. What helped the player change his mind, is quite unclear
at this point.
Nonetheless, City ended up finishing ahead of Arsenal in the third spot last season, on the other hand City also went on to lift the FA Cup, while Arsenal went home empty handed once again.
As a result, despite this move initially looking to be quite ridiculous, it seems like it might just turn out to be a major step in the right direction for Clichy, in order for him to achieve something in the near future.
