Gael Kakuta agrees to stay at Chelsea until 2015
Chelsea FC’s Gael Kakuta has agreed to extend his stay at the club. The footballer made his controversial move to the London club in 2007 from French outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RC-Lens-c40322.
His previous side Lens appealed against Chelsea in the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber, on the accounts of unsettling the player while he was still under contract. However, the matter was later settled in the Court of Arbitration for Sport and Gael was able
to play for the English side.
Kakuta was rumoured to leave the London club when his current contract expired at the end of the season. It was also reported that top European clubs including Bayern Munich and AC Milan were lining a bid to lure the player away from the English Premier
League.
However, the 19-year old has put all rumours to bed after signing a new deal that will keep him at Chelsea until at least 2015.
Kakuta was not able to enjoy regular football last season and only managed 4 senior appearances. However, the departure of a few 1st team players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 has opened up playing opportunities for the Frenchman.
Upon signing his new deal, Gael was thankful to manager Carlo Ancelotti for showing belief and confidence in his talents. The left-footed attacker also hoped that he will have a big part to play in his side’s defence of their English crown.
The former Lens player also expressed his desire to play and win the UEFA Champions League, a trophy that has never been won by Chelsea.
He said, “Since I signed for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 when I was 16 all I was thinking about was to get to the first team. Now I have been playing a few times with the first team and I have signed for four and a half more years, I have to make a way for myself into the starting
XI and make my dream come true.”
He added, “The manager said to me it is the right time to play and I think for me it is as well. It's my job to do my best and try to play more often and show the coach that I am good enough to play in the team. It is always good to play with players with
more experience, you learn quicker.”
