Gael Kakuta happy at Chelsea
Gael Kakuta, one of Chelsea's young prospects, has said that he is thriving with Carlo Ancelotti's team after enduring a challenging last season.
Kakuta, 19, who joined Chelsea at 16 in 2007, and made a strong impression on Michael Ballack during the veteran's first reserves match for Chelsea.
He started to train with the senior team during the 2008–09 season, for whom he has made four appearances so far this season.
After featuring in the U19 European Championships this summer, the French striker turned in an inspired, if slightly unnerved performance when he came on against MSK Zilina in the Champions League two
weeks ago.
"I don't feel pressure at all, I feel comfortable, no pressure. I don't feel pressure so much. The more people that watch us play the better I feel," Kakuta told Chelsea's official website.
In Tuesday's game against Olympique de Marseille, the Frenchman hit the corner that John Terry converted after seven minutes. After his promising start to the season, Kakuta praised the atmosphere at the
English club.
"It is not like in some clubs where the first team players will try to break you and not let you get involved in the team. Here it is something different, that's why I really like it in this club. Everyone
helps you, it doesn't matter if you are young or not, they treat you like a normal player like them."
Overcame a difficult last season
Kakuta's introduction to Chelsea's first team comes after a tumultuous season last year.
Aside from suffering two ankle injuries, the striker was also involved in a controversy over his transfer proceedings that led to a transfer ban for the London club.
"I knew I could sign for Chelsea and in my head everything there was right and I just had to work hard and be patient. I knew everything would be good."
