  1. To play GAA you could join one of it's 2,500 club, based in parishes all over Ireland.

Clubs play in county competitions, championship and leagues. Winners of County Championships go forward to represent their county in the Provincial Club championships games which culminate in the final of the All-Ireland Club Championship which is played in Croke Park on St Patrick's Day (17th March).

Inter-county teams are selected from the best players from the clubs in every county. These teams compete in the All Ireland championship games which end in a final played in Croke Park in Dublin in mid September each year. The cup they play for is called the Sam Maguire cup, a cup modeled on the Ardagh Chalice, an eighth century chalice which is housed in the National Museum of Ireland.
