Gaganjeet Bhullar hopes for another good week at the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open
After winning the Yeangder Tournament Players’ Championship last week, Gaganjeet Bhullar, of India, is confident to keep the winning momentum going into this week’s Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open.
The 150 million yen event at the Higashi Hirono Golf Club is set to feature some of the big names on the Asian Tour and the Japan Golf Tour.
Fellow Indians Anirban Lahiri, Jeev Milkha Singh and Digvijay Singh, Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa, Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and the defending champion Tetsuji Hiratsuka are to name a few.
However, Bhullar does not care much about that. In fact, all the players will become worried if Bhullar succeeds in making the cut this week.
Right from the start of the 2012 Asian Tour season, the Indian has performance remarkably, whenever he made it to the final two rounds.
In total, he made the cut seven times and recorded six top-six finishes among them. Therefore, he will be a man to watch this week because of his stunning form on the tour.
While talking about his win last week, he stated that it meant a great deal to him, as he now has an exemption to play on the Asian Tour for the next two years.
“It was my fighting spirit as I told myself that I’ve got to win the tournament no matter what happens and I knew I was playing well. This victory means a lot to me as it gives you a lot of boost and a two-year exemption on the Asian Tour,” said Bhullar.
“I guess the second half of the season is really packed. I’m going to play like 13-14 events in a row and mentally I’m already prepared for that. I’m looking forward to playing some good golf,” said Bhullar, who moved to fifth place on the Order of Merit
with winnings of US $209,046.
Digvijay Singh, in the meantime, is hoping to return back to his form in Japan. In April this year, he recorded the first ever Asian Tour victory of his career at the Panasonic Open India.
However, he lost control over his game and made only one cut since then. This week, he plans to utilize all his experience and get into contention with a good display of the game with his clubs.
