Gaganjeet Bhullar relishes the opportunity to play the Avantha Masters at Jaypee Greens
Gaganjeet Bhullar of India is upbeat about his performance at this year’s edition of the Avantha Masters, slated to start from March 14, 2013.
The €1.8 million event is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, European Tour and the Professional Golf Tour of India, featuring some of the best players from different parts of the world.
The tournament has reeled in some prominent names, including the likes of legendary Colin Montgomerie, Indian superstar Jeev Milkha Singh, three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit Winner Thongchai Jaidee and Malaysian star Mardan Mamat.
For the first time in the history of the tournament, Jaypee Greens Golf Club will host the tournament. That is the reason why Bhullar is confident about his performance in the tournament.
Bhullar believes that his experience at the venue course will give him advantage over his competitors. As an amateur, he recorded a victory at Jaypee Greens. However, he has not been able to taste success at the course, since he turned professional in 2006.
He now believes that he can turn make his breakthrough with a victory in this year’s Avantha Masters.
The Indian star holds an average record in the tournament so far. However, his top-10 finish in the Challenge Tour’s Gujarat Kensville Challenge will help in boosting his morale for the upcoming event.
Talking to the reporters, he said that he is feeling well and is in good form. Therefore, he will try to remain consistent and finish the tournament on top of the leaderboard.
"I`ve been playing pretty well lately, so my form is good and my confidence is pretty high. Mentally, I`m feeling very sharp and positive, so hopefully I can get into contention coming down the stretch. I`ve won as an amateur at Jaypee Greens, so to get my first European Tour win there would be a dream come true," said Bhullar.
"I was delighted when I found out that Jaypee Greens would be hosting the Avantha Masters. I'm sure all the European Tour players are going to love playing there. It's a beautiful layout, and it probably favours longer hitters, which plays to my strengths,” he added.
