Gaganjeet Bhullar set for the third Asian Tour title of his career
Following a strong finish at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters, Gaganjeet Bhullar is set to record the third Asian Tour victory of his career, when he tees off at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship this week.
During the final round last week, the Indian surged into contention for the top spot on the leaderboard.
However, Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant was too good for him and clinched the title as the 14th of his career on the Asian Tour.
Bhullar missed the cut at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland, despite showing some good set of skills on the course.
The very next event witnessed him make a strong comeback, and he recorded a second-place finish in Malaysia. The strong performance also boosted his morale for his appearance at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club on Thursday.
‘Things are looking good as I played really well last week. I’m really feeling good about my game,” he said.
“I played well in Switzerland as well but it was just that I missed the cut by one shot but otherwise I’m striking the ball really hard and over the years things have been improving in my game,” said Bhullar.
Right from the start of the 2012 Asian Tour season, he has proved himself as one of the most unexpected players in the world.
In 11 events that he has played so far, he missed the cut five times. On the other hand, whenever he made it to the final two rounds, he challenged his opponents in the field.
Apart from a tied 45th position in the Zaykabar Myanmar Open Presented by Air Bagan, he never finished outside of the top-10, whenever he made the cut.
According to him, the time is not far away when he will be holding another Asian Tour trophy in his hand.
“I’m really looking forward to playing well this week and the upcoming weeks. I’ve been very consistent. My game has been improving and this could be my week,” he said.
In the meantime, Wiratchant has also committed to participate in the event and eyes another strong finish, which can take him to the top of the Asian Tour’s career earnings list.
