I just bought a house that had some Gaggenau cook-tops installed - Gaggenau VG 352-812 cook-top stoves with stainles steel hinged covers.
The previous owner didn't leave any manuals so may be flying blind but I have requested them from the Gaggenau website.
Some serious concerns I have about this model and wonder if there any upgrades available:
1. On two occasions when I was entertaining folks (who gathered in the kitchen) someone accidently leaned up against a cook-top k**b which evidently started the gas then a short while later the person leaning against the k**b evidently started the igniter and there was a muffled explosion and the Stainless top flew open.
2. Also, when a friend was done cooking today, she (thought she had) turned off the stove and lowered the top. Just as we were about to leave, she took another swipe at the stove tops with a cleaning rag only to find the Stainless top was extremely hot.
Being an engineer, I can't help but think there could (should) be an add-on to help prevent these potentially disastrous situations.
Also, is it necessary when initially starting the burner, to physically hold in the cook-top stove k**b over 30 seconds before the flame will stay on by itself? .....and the 'low' setting is not noticeably different from the 'high' setting. (Maybe these questions will be answered by the manual?).
Can you help?
Thanks for your time.
