Gail Emms is optimistic for good results from Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier in 2012 Olympic Games
Britain’s former player Gail Emms expressed that the top shuttlers of Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier stand a healthy chance to produce elevated results at 2012 Olympic Games which will take place in July-August, at London.
Emms with her partner Nathan Robertson delivered a sensational performance in 2004 Athens Olympics and won a silver medal for Britain.
Now she is hopeful that the World Number 12 Adcock and Bankier will win a medal for Britain in the upcoming Olympic Games.
Adcock and Bankier, who defied all odds in the 2011 World Championships and nailed silver medal in Mixed Doubles category, are expected to perform well again as the Olympic Games will be held at the same venue, which is Wembley Indoor Arena in London, England.
Emms said, “Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier won world silver last year and they are our best hope. In terms of their realistic targets this summer, I always say never say never, because I didn’t think they would win a silver at the world championships, but
they did.”
While talking about her former partner, Emms said that Robertson is a world class player and is a star in Britain’s badminton.
However, she feels a little dejected that the chances to qualify on merit for Olympic Games are virtually impossible for Robertson and Jenny Wallwork as they have a lower world ranking as they are placed at number 21 in the world.
She said, “I am gutted that results have not worked out for him this year,” said 2006 world champion Emms. He is not in the prime qualifiers spot at the moment.”
Adcock and Bankier are in their prime form at the moment as they have been playing remarkable badminton for the last six months.
In the opening month of current year, Adcock and Bankier defeated the World Number One Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei of China proving that they are ready to take bigger challenges.
Emms feels that Adcock and Bankier are very talented and that they can produce another impressive performance at Wembley Arena in the 2012 Olympic Games.
The shuttlers are quite passionate to live up to expectations in the mega event by winning a medal for Britain.
