Question:

Gain Laundry Detergent VS Tide?

by  |  earlier

I've always used Tide. Traded off for Gain a few months ago, less $. However, I'm worried about keeping the quality & color in my clothes.

*** If you use Gain... for how long?

*** What is your opinion of this brand?

*** If you've used Tide for a period of time also, is the quality different btw the two?

Thank you :)

  1. i use both and find really no big diffrence  in the both products but personaly i prefer tide i feel as if i need less to get my clothing clean an smelling nice.

  2. Lari: There is not 5 cents differences both are good detergents, buy the one you find the cheapest when you are shopping.

    Good Luck

  3. My gf uses Gain and has for ages.  It smells very good and the clothes look great.

  4. I spent years as a Tide snob, but a couple of years ago, my daughter was diagnosed with eczema and the doctor told us to get generic laundry detergent because it was less concentrated.  So, since then I just buy whatever's cheapest; purex, whatever.

Anyway, I've always always ONLY washed clothes in cold water anyway (good for the environment, saves big on the water bill) and dried them on the lowest dryer setting.  So nothing's changed except I'm using the cheap stuff now.

And I can't tell one darned bit of difference.  It's been two years and honestly, all I notice is that I'm paying $3 instead of $8 or $11 for a container of laundry detergent.

    Hope this helps.

  5. gain all the way.  20+ yrs.  my parents used tide growing up...

my hubby got me on gain.  i like the fabric softener and sheets, but they cost too much.

and the clothes stay smelling good after they've been put up.

    everything is ridiculously expensive lately....

  6. They are both my favorite!! In my opinion they both work the same. I have to say I love GAIN because it smells so good and it lasts for weeks. I always buy either or which ever one is cheaper at the supermarket.

  7. I think they are both about the same. I have used both over the years. Depending on what is on sale and what coupons I may have.

  8. Tide is the strongest laundry detergent.  It gets your clothes cleaner but it also wears out the clothes and fades the colors faster.  I would get both and use Tide when you really need it but use Gain most of the time.
