Gaining Weight and Muscle?

Hi I am a 5'10 guy who weighs 125 lbs. I know I am skinny but I recently started working out 4 times a week. I do treadmill an hour before I do a total body workout with dumbbells. I then take a protein shake after working out. How should I be eating and should I do low weight high reps or higher weight low reps? Serious and resourceful answers please!

  1. Do a 3 egg and cheese omelet for breakfast (only 1 egg and 2 egg whites). Then eat protein mostly. For lunch and dinner have a salad, 1/2 potato (preferably a yam or sweet potato), and one protein (6 ounces of one of the following: tuna, chicken, salmon, perch, etc). Once a week you can substitute steak. Keep drinking your protein shakes when you work out, they will help build the muscle. When my brother-in-law does a body building show, he eats 6 times/day and only eats 1/2 chicken breast and a cup of rice (and his protein shakes - 3 50 gram shakes/day), then switches the rice to a 1/2 potato, then just eats the protein for the last 2 weeks. And loads up on water, 1/2 -1 gallon per day. The night before competition, he loads up on carbs but eliminates the water. I think that helps tighten his skin.  But it also leaves him pretty weak.  But he looks pretty good on stage!  Anyway, hope that helps, keep lifting those weights, and good luck with the body building!

Edit: Do more reps with less weight. When you can do 10 sets of 10 easily, then increase the weight.
