please help, i am in the process of obtaining my british citizenship because i really wanna move to London because Australia is sooo boring- (please void the negative comments here)- but the british embassy is making it really hard for me, now they want my dads original birth certificate where it states that he was born in england (even though it says that on mine). But he does not have his original birth certificate and he could not get it from the births deaths and marriage registry because it occured outside of Victoria, Melbourne.

anybody know how i/ he can get this certificate??

Its really annoying me because my sister got her citisenship really fast so now she has dual citizenship (Aus & UK), and she isnt even planning on using it.

i want to move to the UK, early next year... Any help please.

Thank you.

  1. England and WalesCivil registration of life events was introduced in England and Wales in 1837.

Ordering a certificate onlineGRO have a secure site for online ordering of birth, marriage and death certificates. This can be used to place orders using the GRO Index reference and for certificates dating from 1900 up to 18 months from the present date where the exact details are known.

For details visit the GRO’s certificate ordering service.

Ordering certificates by post/fax/telephoneYou can order your certificate using a form which can be downloaded from the General Register Office website.

The following links are to the General Register Office website which gives information on certificate fees and forms for obtaining birth certificates, ordering marriage certificates and ordering death certificates.

If you have been unable to access an index to find the appropriate GRO reference, you can still apply for a certificate by telephone, fax or post. You should supply as much information as possible - full name(s), date of the event, and the place where the event took place. For further information see obtaining a certificate.

  3. You will need to get a copy from the UK.

You can find all the UK Birth registrars at http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/index.php?form_a...

It should be easy to get a copy of the birth certificate from the correct one, once you get the correct General Register Office (GRO) Index reference number .

But, as another person asked, does your sister have a copy ?

  4. If your sister applied for a British passport, she should have a copy of your Dad's birth cert, what's she done with it?
