Gaiters...?

Question

Does anyone know if gaiters (those things that protect your legs) are good enough to protect you from snakes? Can they pierce the material?

I grew up in snake country as a kid. We would wrap newspaper around the base of our legs and pull our pants over the wrapping to keep it together.

It depends on what they are made of. You might do better with chaps or boots. If you can afford them, the Gokey Botte Sauvage is probably the best. I can't afford to even look at their ads.
