Gala Spirit set to stand first in Breeze Radio Handicap
Spirit is the key to success in every playfield. The Michael Wigham trained bay mare, Gala Spirit, knows this fact well; therefore, she seems to be packed with spirit ahead of the Breeze Radio Handicap that will be held at Bath racecourse on Tuesday, August
14.
For the sake of the prize money worth £1,617, the five-year-old veteran runner will have to compete against 16 strong rivals. A good track of 5 furlongs and 161 yards will be the playfield of the maverick mare whose most of the experience is related to standard
grounds.
Despite this, she will not take much time to adjust to the race conditions. Since November 2011, the talented daughter of Invincible Spirit out of Luggala has been winless. Her last victory came at Wolverhampton on October 20.
Since the dawn of the calendar year, the young and enthusiastic sprinter has delivered a few decent performances at various venues.
After finishing 3rd in the 12-runner race of the Kempton For Weddings Handicap on January 18, she grabbed the runner-up position in the Blue Square Winter Carnival iPhone App Handicap, held at Wolverhampton on February 4.
Then came a couple of mediocre performances. The J. M. Cullinan owned brilliant sprinter nicely finished 3rd in www.redbook.ie Handicap at Dundalk on March 16. She repeated the same in The Black Country's Only Racecourse Handicap that took place
on July 30. She was the 5-2 favourite for that race.
Though Gala Spirit’s stats are not pleasant enough but she poses to be the best in compare with the other runners on the card.
Greyemkay is too likely to do well today. The Richard Price trained grey gelding has 12 starts to his name, but he is still starving for his maiden victory.
The Shade Oak Stud bred veteran horse gained a lot of confidence by finishing third against a dozen of rivals in his last outing entitled as Happy 50th Birthday Andy Smith Handicap that took place at Chepstow on August 9.
Thus, the son of Fair Mix out of Magic Orb will give somewhat tough time to Gala Spirit but he is not likely to stand for success.
