Question:

Galahs and apple leaves?

hey there,

i read somewhere that apple leaves are bad for galah's but i cannot remember where exactly, i have searched the internet but can not find somewhere that says otherwise or agree

is it true that apple leaves are harmful to galah's or even parrots in general

  1. Some apple leaves are toxic.  It's hard to say - some species are harmless and some are always toxic. Many are only occasionally toxic, when the conditions are right.  The toxin is cyanide (also found in apple seeds and stems), which is bad for almost any animal.  So while a particular apple leaf might be safe, it's not worth risking.  It's safer to avoid all apple leaves and wood.


  2. Yes apple seeds AND leaves are toxic to all parrot/cockatoo species.
