Galatasaray ISTANBUL enters final of 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup – Volleyball news
A semi final of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women took place on March 18 in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The two teams that played the final four match of the tournament were the home squad of Galatasaray ISTANBUL as well as the Romanian side of 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA. The total number of spectators that filled the venue of the match were 1,800.
It did not take long for a winner to emerge as the home side was able to make a clean sweep over their opponents. Not only did the Turks sweep the Romanians, they also went for a golden set and secured it as well. The scoreboard showed the following final
set scores at the end of the day: 25-23, 25-18 and 25-19 and 15-11 for the golden set.
The first set of the match saw both the teams come out strong against each other. No one was sure where the tables would turn as the match progressed as both the squads put up an impressive show. The match kept going back and forth but eventually reached
a tie at 22-22.
However, it was the Turkish team that was able to put on a burst of speed and secure the opening set of the match at 25-23.
The loss of the first set of the game dampened the spirits of the Romanians while the Turkish were able to get confidence from the win. As a result, it seemed that the Romanians were only putting in a half-hearted effort that could not do much in terms of
providing their counter parts with challenge.
Therefore, the Turkish were able to seal the deal on the second set of the game easily at 25-18.
The third set of the match followed the same pattern as the second set with the Romanians not pulling their act together while the Turkish kept on going strong and steady towards another win.
Therefore, it was only a matter of time before the home team was able to seal the deal on the third and final set of the game to secure a ticket into the final of the tournament.
