Galina won the match 7-6(2), 6-2 at the Baku Tennis Academy, Baku, Azerbaijan.
Galina won the toss; serving first hit an ace and struck only one double fault while her opponent (Monica) was not able to serve an ace and her accuracy faltered, striking two line faults.  Even though Galina had only managed to
win an above average fifty four percent of her first serve opening the set, she was able to gain a competitive edge because of her winning the three break point advantages at which the spectators cheered for their home girl (Galina). The match was a close
tie and she won the match with a total of five more set points than her rivals (Monica). Playing at home not only boosted her performance but took her all the way right until she won the tiebreaker at which the crowd did a Mexican wave and hence won the set
