Question:

Gall bladder pain relief?

by  |  earlier

I know how to avoid an attack and what foods not to eat--however, I still get attacks.

What can I do to relieve the pain? Any home remedies? What meds work best? I am in complete and utter pain. I am going to get surgery--what can I do until then??

Help!!

  1. Try Tylenol Extra Strength Rapid Release Gelcaps.

Otherwise, you need to ask your surgeon if you ought to move up the surgery or to give you some pain killers.

    Good luck.

Had mine out 4 years ago.

  2. Nothing. The only thing that works is surgery. You learn to deal.

  3. Oh honey I know how you feel. =(. Depending on the attack, depends on what you can do for it. The best thing to do is sleep through it if you can. My doctor gave me some tranquilizers to take when the attacks were really bad. You can also try and ask him for pain meds (which usually don't really help and muscle relaxers offer mininmal assistance.) Other things that may help are taking a warm, relaxing bath, pepto bismal may help. Overall, the surgery will make such a difference. Good luck hon! My gallstones hurt me so badly, it took me months to find out what they were...

  4. I dealt with gall bladder pain for 8 years. Mine was finally taken out in January. 6 years ago I had a terrible bout of attacts. Couldn't function through the pain, they were almost constant. I went to the ER. My labs were normal so they told me that they couldn't do anything for me, it wasn't an emergency. I got a prescription, and I dont remember what it was, but I do remember that it was a smooth muscle relaxer aimed primary at bladder spasms. It worked great. Made me sleepy as sin, but worked wonders. I made it through that bout and lived on with a sick gallbladder for 6 more years before getting sick. I understand your pain. Other than pain meds, muscle relaxors, etc; Surgery is your best option, and maybe if you call your office and tell your doc how much pain your having he will do it faster, or advise you to go into the ER and go ahead and get it done.
