Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 has called for a fighting spirit from his teammates and insists that the team will give it all in their next game against Reading.
Spurs have only managed 2 points from three games so far in the season, losing their season opener against Newcastle and drawing the next two games at home against West Brom and Norwich City respectively.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is still in search of his first competitive win as Spurs boss, and has come under pressure from the media and the fans.
Following his unsuccessful six month stint at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea, the Portuguese was appointed as Spurs boss early in the summer. This move was criticised by many, and doubts were cast over the decision by Spurs chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy.
Villas-Boas was however eager to prove his critics wrong and led Tottenham through an impressive pre-season tour. He also signed a number of quality players over the summer. Shades of his spell at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were still on display, as the manager let go of players
such as Rafael Van Der Vaart and moved the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 down the pecking order.
Many have asked for the fans to give the new manager and the team some time to settle in. William Gallas has called for a fighting spirit and wants the team to kick start their season when they travel to the Madejski stadium this weekend to face Reading.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “We have to work again for the next game, to improve again. We have to fight.”
“In the Premier League now, when you saw how Norwich played and I would say they played well, they were compact, maybe we didn’t play quick. So they had time to come back and be ready for the counter attack."
The French defender also hailed the signing of Dembele, who scored on his Tottenham debut against Norwich. The player was signed just hours before the close of the transfer window, and is seen as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
Gallas added:“He’s a good player, he has a lot of quality, he’s still young and it will be good for everyone to play with him.”
