Tottenham Hotspur defender William Gallas is aiming for winning trophies with the club, and disagrees with former manager Arsene Wenger on his view of the Capital One Cup.
The Arsenal manager said last week that winning domestic cups will always be on the bottom of his priority list, and claimed that qualifying for the Champions League is more important, despite the club suffering on a 7-year trophy drought.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 disagrees with his former manager and is eager to win a trophy with Spurs this season, whichever competition it may be from.
The former Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player secured a move to White Hart Lane two seasons ago, becoming the only player to have played for all three London clubs.
The French defender said that winning silverware means everything to a player, and he will be looking forward to lifting a trophy with Tottenham when this season ends.
Tottenham are currently preparing for their Capital One Cup tie with Norwich, which takes place tonight at Carrow Road. The Spurs defender is eager to seal a victory against the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723 as Tottenham look to recover their form.
Speaking to the press, the Frenchman said:
"For me, a trophy is something you lift at the end of the season; it's a fantastic feeling."
"It doesn't happen many times through your career, so for me to finish second or fourth isn't the same as finishing top, as champions. It's completely different.”
"It is a long time since Tottenham have lifted a trophy and I don't know which one we are going to lift."
Tottenham are currently competing on four fronts, and the defender admits that the club will struggle to stay consistent in all competitions. He does however remain optimistic about winning silverware under new manager Andre Villas-Boas this season.
The club recently bounced back from an embarrassing 2-4 home defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 by drawing with Maribor in the Europa League and securing an away win against Southampton in the Premier League. Gallas added:
“We want to finish well this season; we just want to be in the top four. But we will see at the end of the season if we will finish top or not.”
