Galley Slave to improvise further in the Mama J’s Italian Kitchen Now Open Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen
The Class 4 Mama J’s Italian Kitchen Now Open Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle is to be staged at Market Rasen over two miles and three furlongs on Sunday, 11th March. The race that will see six four-year and older thoroughbreds racing has
the purse worth £2, 599.
The highly assorted lineup does not really help the certainty factor as none can be considered as a serious threat and neither can any on the lineup be taken lightly. The outcome of this race will be truly surprising.
Galley Slave, Spartacus’s seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare Cimeterre, has raced five times during the new season, not that he was able to strike a victory but he did improve drastically through the course of the outings.
Galley Slave’s seasonal debut resulted in his being pulled up in the Holt Handicap Hurdle on 1st January at Fakenham Result over two miles and seven and a half furlongs.
His next attempt was in the Bet And Watch At Bluesq.Com “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race on 12th February at Southwell over two miles, witnessed Galley Slave leaving the track of fourteen in the end.
His performance during the third attempt did seem to be somewhat decent as compared to the two blunders that he had made previously. Galley Slave was positioned seventh on the field of fourteen competing in the Free Trial At Betangel.Com Handicap Hurdle
on 15th February at Southwell over three miles and ½ furlong.
Almost as if nature wanted him to struggle more than any other horse for achieving better, Galley Slave was driven down to the sixteenth position on the lineup of seventeen on 19th February in the Rewards4racing.Com Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen
Result over two miles and a furlong.
A dreadful ending to the fourth race of the new season.
However, his most recent race, the Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation Handicap Hurdle on 7th March at Catterick over two miles and three furlongs had him finishing third behind the winner.
Royal Entourage, the 11/8 favourite, was the winner of the race while Andy Vic qualified as the runner up.
When the crowds and connections had put up with him at his worst then this is the time when he has finally started performing and deserves the chance to be relied upon.
