Gambhir credits KKR’s 46-run win over Pune to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RN-ten-Doeschate-c2338 – Cricket News Update
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611 Sahara Stadium, Pune, to Holland import Ryan ten Doeschate.
Ten Doeschate, playing his first match of the ongoing 2013 IPL, changed the course of KKR’s game against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 by smashing 31 runs off just 21 balls to lift Knight Riders to 152 for 6 on a difficult Pune track.
"Ryan was the man who changed the course of the tie," Gambhir said at the post match press conference here at Pune on Thursday. "Before he came to bat, we were expecting to score around 130 runs. Playing his first match, Ryan did a wonderful job in the death overs. He is the real hero," added the visiting skipper.
While Gambhir was happy and relieved after his side’s comprehensive win, he said that the Knight Riders were capable of doing much better.
This was just fifth win for the title holders in 13 games. Ten Doeschate, the 32-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 all-rounder, had to sit out KKR’s campaign so far, however, after his performance, both with the bat and the ball, he did not agree that he was the missing link in the line-up.
"No, I wouldn't say that," ten Doeschate told the official IPL website after the match. "There are obviously a lot of good international players here. Like when I come in, a quality player like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-McLaren-c2232 has to sit out. So you have got to wait your turn. And that is probably one of the toughest things you have to do, as you have got to stay fresh and stay ready. That is the hard part about being in a group of eight or nine good overseas guys like in KKR," added the Cape Province born right-handed batsman, who also bowls right arm medium pace.
Ten Doeschate agreed with skipper Gambhir that the defending champions were capable of doing much better than they have done thus far in the lucrative league.
"I don't think we have done particularly badly this year," ten Doeschate said. "I just don't think we have won crucial moments of the game. However, we have certainly channeled the pressure of being defending champions into a way that would work out for us this year."
King http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319’s Kolkata Knight Riders will next play Royal Challengers Bangalore at Ranchi on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
