Gambhir urges players to give more than 100% - Cricket News Update
The Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, has urged his players to give more than their hundred percent as the side gears up to play two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings in their maiden Indian Premier League final at latter’s backyard, MA
Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on May 27, 2012.
“Chennai have been two-time winners and they know how to play in finals,” said Gambhir while speaking to the media reporters ahead of tournament final on Sunday.
“We have to be on our toes. We need to give more than 100 per cent. We have to give it our best shot if we want to beat CSK in Chennai,” he added further.
Sunday’s grand finale will be played at Chennai’s home ground and the Super Kings hold an impressive record at home; they remained unbeaten at home last season. Though the side failed to capitalize much on the home advantage at the start of this season,
but managed to bounce back strongly in the later stages of the league phase, winning five of their eight home games. Out of the three losses at home this season, one came against Knight Riders last month.
The Yellow Brigade however, looked like the old Super Kings during their impressive 86-run win over Delhi Daredevils at home on Friday, courtesy Murali Vijay’s pugnacious 113 off just 58 balls, and must be looking forward to emulate the same champion performance
against KKR on Sunday night to complete their hat-trick of titles.
Well aware of the fact that it is almost impossible to tame Dhoni and his men in front of their home crowd, Gambhir said that his side will go into Sunday’s grand finale with fifty percent victory chances and will give more than their potential to make it
100%.
“There is no doubt that the crowd support will be in favour of them as they will be playing in their own backyard,” said the 30-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005 who has been leading the Knight Riders from the front all through the tournament.
“But I have always believed that in big games like this you always have 50-50 chance. In such games there are no favourites and underdogs. Everyone start a big game on even keel,” he added further.
