  1. I used to live in the Sacramento, California suburbs and one particular billiard parlor was almost shut down because of the high-stakes games that were played there.  The owner fought the case and it was ruled that wagering on pool, or billiards, is not considered illegal gambling.  It is because the people involved were betting on their skill.  Pool is not a game of chance and even though a lot of places discourage wagering on the game of pool.  If you decide to come to the U.S., understand that you should try to keep the wagering low-key.  Also, understand the difference between being a pool shark and a pool hustler.  It can become pretty dangerous anywhere in the country if you play someone and they realize you are hustling them.  By the way, people gamble on more than just the game of 9-ball, like straight-pool and one-pocket.  As far as how much money you can make, the sky is the limit.  I can go in several places with a lot of gambling going on, and I can't find a game, or too many people know me, etc.

  2. It really depends on how good you are and how good you are at hiding how good you are. If you are a good player and you go out and play good pool. Players that are not as good as you are will not play you.  This is where the art of hustling comes in.  Pretend like you stink get your opponent to spot you balls or games in a race you will have easier wins.

I am an OK player who is working on getting better but the most I have played for in a single game is $20 a game. The most I ever player for in a race was when I was down 80 to my cousin and we raced to 10 for double or nothing and I won

  3. I once read an interview with professional player Danny Basavich. He said he made over $250,000 in a year as a road player (gambling). According to AZ Billiards, he has never made more than $40,000 in a year in professional tournaments. That kind of money is not typical by any means, but you get the picture.

  4. Gambling on pool games is illegal man.  I don't know what you are talking about *wink wink*

  5. Most of the money is made in side bets.  The players may be betting $100 per rack, but the side action is much heavier.

  6. Come to the Derby City Classic in Louisville KY January16-24Th 2009.You'll find matches from anywhere from $500 to $50,000 There has been Quite a few Europeans there in the last few years.Ralf Souquett,Niels Feijen,Mika Immonen just to name a few.

  7. yes theres good money in pool u must gamble to be a better player and learn the pressure of gambling as it will make u a more better player in tournaments and be more consistant and learn finesse in Ur shots dint over do it keep it friendly as it can be volatile Ur mate pool dolphin u  dint Husser there  is no victory in that

  8. The basics of gambling:

Player A challenges Player B to a match, generally setting the game, stipulations, weight (handicaps), and wager.

Player B accepts, declines, or counteroffers, changing one or more of the parameters.

It continues in this manner until they reach an agreement, then they play the game, and the winner wins the wager.

There is always good money in gambling. It's just a matter of whether you're receiving it or giving it away.

  9. RUN BREW CITY RUN THEY CAUGHT US MAN!!!!

  10. One can find a local tournament that pays 100 to 500 Dollars about any day of the week here n Indiana. Once a month a larger one that pays 1000 to 2000 to win.

Gambling on pool can be found in about any place with tables, especially on tournament days. Contrary to popular belief it is not illegal to bet on pool. It is legal to wager money on "YOUR" skill against your opponent's skill, for money.  The illegality comes in when one bets on luck or someone else's skill.

I see and play games regularly for 5-10 20 or more per game. I have seen much more but not usually.

Most of the top pool players who travel and gamble on pool have a lifestyle that causes them to spend as much as they win. So they always have nothing except a stakehorse who provides the money to bet and takes 1/2 of winnings. These guys make money cause they usually don't use drugs, go to horse track and waste their money.
