Game 4: Milan Lucic finally ends his goal drought, expected to lead Bruins to lift the Stanley Cup
Milan Lucic knew all the answers to the questions in front of him. He was well aware of the fact that it had been 20 games since the last time he scored a goal on 22nd March and therefore, it had been almost 50 days since his last goal.
Game 4 finally ended his goal drought as he scored 2 goals to lead the Bruins to a series win. He was surprisingly feeling lucky to be in this position, despite not being able to continue on the 30 goal, regular season, effort.
"It's been kind of frustrating, the last 20 games, not being able to put the puck in the back of the net", he said.
Lucic’s body language clearly showed that he felt like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders. In fact, Lucic scored the opening goal in power-play and he was highly relieved.
The level of happiness further increased due to the fact that Bruins won the game, 5-1, and the semifinal series, 4-0.
"Yeah, it was obviously exciting", Lucic said. "It was the second round of the playoffs with a chance to close them out. Obviously, like I said, it's a monkey off my back for me. And also, it's a goal to come one step closer to moving to that next round".
Lucic looks in good form now and he is expected to score goals on a regular basis. Lucic’s second goal of the game made the scores 3-1, in favour of the Red Wings.
He was able to exhibit some glimpses of his performances that allowed him to score 64 goals during the first four seasons in the National Hockey League.
He also came up with some fancy skills during the game, beating the players with his clever tactics.
"I started having fun again, I just relaxed and got into those areas where I scored a lot of goals this year", Lucic said. "It was a lot of fun, it was fun to be a part of this game tonight, and obviously to score those goals at home and win this series at home makes it even better. I'm sure our fans really appreciate it".
Lucic was the leading goal scorer for the Bruins during the course of the regular season and now that he has ended his goal drought, many say that he will undoubtedly score more goals and play an important role in the Bruins’ surge for winning the Stanley Cup.
