Game 6 of the World Series a true stunner – MLB World Series Update
Game 6 of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers on Thursday, October 28 ended up leaving all and sundry stunned with the result. Even the game pundits and the awed players of other teams could not foresee what was coming.
"It was edge-of-your-seat exciting," said 2001 World Series Champion Luis Gonzalez, who delivered the Series-winning single off of Mariano Rivera to make Arizona the 2001 Champs.
It was indeed a breathtaking encounter. Leaving everyone on edge, the game was later called “Unbelievable”, and one of the best ever seen in the history of Major League Baseball. The Cardinals trailed no less than five times, only to come back and win with
majestic beauty.
“I've never seen anything like it," said MLB.com analyst Frank Thomas. "Tonight was an instant classic, ups and downs. One of the ugliest ballgames you ever want to see for six innings, then all of a sudden, it became one of the best ballgames you'll ever
see."
For the MLB Network analyst Al Leiter it was no less than a ‘roller coaster” of emotion. For Ozzie Guillen, the Florida Marlins’ manager, it was a ‘bad game in the beginning’ but eventually turned out to be ‘one of the best games to be played in the World
Series’.
Lots of other experts shared the same view. While the Rangers were expected to trounce the Cardinals when they had a safe 7-4 lead, the Cardinals fans saw their team making a resurgence that will remain inscribed in the annals of baseball history.
Albert Pujols, who played a key role in leading the team to the winning stand, called it an ‘unbelievable’ game. With two outs in the ninth inning, David Freese could not have done anything great than what he did as he hit a two-run triple and then hit a
homer in the 11th to steal the show.
Now that Game 7 is on the cards, it remains to be seen how the final captivates the attention with some magical moments.
