should I learn C++ or C# as my first programming language ?

i have no experience in programming so i need something easy, but i'm a quick learner.

should I user C# or XNA/C# for game development, and general application development.

I am a 14 year old student, so i have the time to study programming. which path do you think i should take.

do i need to learn directX programming??

and is Dark GDK good to use?? do i need something called a "game engine" to actually make games, or just download DarkGDK??

thanks guys

  1. You don't start making games.  It's not just unrealistic, it's bad form.  Start with hello world, learn the concepts of programming in general, understand the hardware, then move onto what you actually want to do.  In the meantime, you can study graphic design and mathematics, which you'll also need to make games worth playing.

GDKs are a waste of time if you ask me.  You don't NEED to learn DirectX.  I prefer OpenGL.
