Game on Dude posted a solid workout, as he continued progress toward the Breeders’ Cup Classic
The Bob Baffert trained 4-year-old gelding Game on Dude is on fire after his front running performance in the Grade 1 Goodwood Stakes, and now is pointed toward the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic for his next start, where he is expected to be the pace setter.
The Breeders’ Cup Classic will be held on 5 November, 2011, at Churchill Downs where he will meet the top notch, both American and English runners.
The likes of So You Think among the Classic line up makes it a seriously difficult race, with the American star studded combinations of Jim Dandy and Travers Stakes winner Stay Thirsty and the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Flat Out.
Game on Dude himself is a major threat to the entire Breeders’ Cup Classic contestants as he turned in a solid work of five furlongs on the morning of 18 October, 2011, at Santa Anita Park.
Game on Dude worked with an unidentified workmate, who is also conditioned by Bob Baffert, the son of Awesome Again, out of Worldly Pleasure by Devil His Due, Game on Dude broke off four lengths behind his workmate.
The 4-year-old Kentucky bred gelding started at the 4 ½ furlong pole and finished on even terms, as the Classic prospect was time by his conditioner as he covered the distance in 58.80 seconds.
The Santa Anita Park clockers timed Game on Dude’s run of half a mile in 46.80 seconds, breezing.  Garcia handled Game on Dude on the 18 October workout session but Chantal Sutherland, who has guided the 4-year-old to a win and second place finish in his
last three starts is going to ride him in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
First time Sutherland rode Game in Dude was in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup, where the pair finished second behind First Dude, and in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic the pair finished off the money as they came in 4th at Del Mar.
Chantal Sutherland guided Game on Dude to victory in the Grade 1 Goodwood Stakes, and Baffert would be hoping a repeat of the Santa Anita feature’s performance in the Breeders’ Cup Classic next month.
