Question:

Game speed vs. Test speed.. Im super fast in games, but my speed tests are mediocre..help?

in every sport i play i am always known as the fast guy, blowing right past people, yet when it comes to test like the 40 yard dash im always getting mediocre times, yesterday i got a 4.8.

From the video that i took of the run you can see me running straight up and i also think that i dont breath at all, its like if im pushing too hard.

I have a month before my walk on tryouts and im pretty sure the only thing holding me back from a 4.5 or low 4.6 is my form, so does anyone that maybe has had this happen too them or knows a little bit about this have any suggestions or tips on how to currect your form and relax during the run?

  1. what you want to do to have better form is to keep your arms at a 90 degree angle at all times you want your hands to be pointed sharp like scizzors so you dont curl your fingers.  drive your legs as high as you can. your start should affect how you do also. start with your strong leg back so that when you step out it will be forced to drive out farther giving you a beter start. as you start dont look straight down because then your legs wont have as big of a stride look out like a meter in front of you. for the first 10-20 meters you want to kind of lean foreward with your head down to gain speed and then pop up and maintain your speed. never pop up right away in a sprint. i hope this helps and good luck!

    2nd get someone to do reaction training with you they clap you move especially work on your back foot you seem to have good leg speed once you get there so in the longer term upper body strength and plyometrics will help read a bood calle Sports Speed by from memory Dintiman and Ward it is or should be our bible ohh and never do any training below 75/80 % effort or yur body will produce an enzyme to let you run further but slower if it suiy=ts you join an athletic club sprinters group you can then really test yourself and get proper training
