Game two ends up in a draw at 0-0 in the Canada versus Great Britain UK Tour
The men’s senior Canadian team ended up in a tie in the second match of their United Kingdom (UK) tour played against the Great Britain (GB) by 0-0, held on April 14, in Scotland.
The second day began quite much like their last face-off in which both the teams were seeking to dominate the field with their attacks. However, GB managed to penetrate the Canadian circle and secured their first short-corner of the match in the 8th minute.
GB’s short-corner attempt got beaten when Dave Carter from Canada’s defensive wing cleared the ball safe.
In the next couple of minutes, GB got their second short corner that again got turned down, but this time by Rob Short of Canada.
In the rest of the 25 minutes of the first half, a defensive game was played from both the ends. GB, as before, showed more of the ball possession, but failed to peek into Canada’s defensive court.
As a result, the first half ended up with no additions to the score-board at 0-0.
In the second half, an improved Canadian play came up the horizon when the forwards were found progressing into the GB’s defensive half. With the passage of time, the Canadian attacks started to occur time after time.
Despite of the pressure developed by Canada over the opponent, GB stood firm and defended the attacks very well.
Until the 47th minute, GB made its way towards their third short-corner. Canada’s Dave Jameson made a run towards the drag-flick and countered the ball very well, leading the ball back to the field. Unfortunately, GB’s potential goal attempt
turned up a failure.
In the 52nd minute mark, Canada’s Matt Guest secured the first penalty-corner for his team. To avail the opportunity, the drag-flick specialist, Scott Tupper appeared who lifted the ball high up towards the goal-keeper’s stick side. However,
a great save was made from the GB’s side and the score remained locked at 0-0.
Two more attacks shot by Canada in GB’s defensive circle got successfully deflected by the opponent’s goalkeeper in the 58th and 60th minute.
In return, GB was found in action in the next few minutes with a counter-attack that was well saved by the Canadian trio Rob Short, Keegan Pereira and Dave Jameson.
Moreover, the English hockey men made two more excellent attacks towards Canadian circle in the 64th and 67th minute that got blocked by the opponent’s side.
The 67th minute attack was a mistaken attempt by the guest team, when Canada answered back a 3-for-1 attack soon after the third chance to score. Unfortunately, it was a mistaken attempt from Canada too when Gubbar Singh missed the pass. Conclusively,
the match ended up with a scoreless draw between the two teams at 0-0.
