Question:

Gamecube games on Wii console?

I have bought a wireless Wii Gamecube controller to play Gamecube games on the wii. I insert the GC disk, and then select the Disk Channel. The disk appears to load ok, but then I get a screen that says 'No memory card inserted' and asks me to choose either 'retry' or 'don't save'. Firstly, I have a SD memory card in the front slot, and secondly, there seems to be no way to get past this screen, as neither the wii remotes, nor the GC controller have any effect at this point. Any suggestions? Can anyone tell me what should be happening?

  1. ok whith a wireless wavebird controller u still need to plug in the adapter and then memory card isnt sd u need to get a gamecube card.

  2. You need a gamecube memory card to play GC games, SD card won't work.

  3. You'll need a GameCube memory card that's plugged in on the top of the Wii behind where you plug in the GameCube controllers.

The SD card can be used as a backup for Wii and GC memory, but cannot be used for active use.

  4. Yup everyone is right. You need to get a gamecube memory card. You can find them cheap now. I think I got mine for like $3.00. I also had this problem when I wanted to play Animal Crossing again. I thought I could save it on the Wii, but you can't.
