I'm a very experienced rider and I know quite a few games, but I was wondering if there are anymore I can play with a bunch of people.

Any ideas besides simon says/elimination, musical chairs, money btwn the legs.

Also do you know any fun relays?

THANKS SO MUCH

  1. Lip stick race (riders try to apply lip stick while going as quickly as possible)

    Red light, green light

    Egg and spoon race

    Baton race

    Flag race

Some kind of obstacle course (Ex: They have to mount in the ring, get/put mail out of/into a mail box, go over poles, do a figure eight, etc.)

    Costume contest

Add these and a few others to the list you already have and it sounds like a pretty good party!

    Have fun!

  2. bareback trotting race

it needs to be done over about 50meters and if you canter then you need to circle

  3. www.mountedgames.org

  4. fun relay..

    bareback.

you have to start at the starting line (two cones spread wide apart, the width depends on how many horses.. just marks the line)

you are off your horse. and your partner is off theirs, behind you.

there is one pole/barrel per person.

you have to mount, gallop/canter down and around the pole and come back. dismount quickly and tap your partner. then they swing up and do the same. but when they come back and tag you, you have to swing up while she stays on and gallop past your pole and to another cone finish (you can use other things for the barrels and cones)

other games bareback are too long. i cant list them all. you can look in my q & a and find the question i asked

    i hope htis helps

  5. I played broom polo, what a blast!  You have 4 people on each team.  Have 2 barrels on each end for the goal.  Set a number goals to get to determine the winner.  Get a big blow up beach ball and each member has broom(you can get the cheap ones).  They have to use the broom to hit the beach ball in the goal.  One person each team is a goalie.  You can do egg and spoon.  First have them walk with a egg in a spoon. Ask for a trot then a canter, until you have one person left.  Grocery game - have a barrel at one end with carrots, apples, plastic grocery bag on top of it.  One the other end put a bucket.  The rider has to grap the plastic bag and put the groceries in the bag and go down to the end and take the groceries out of the bag and put them in the bucket and then run down to other side where the barrel is.  Thats a fun game, cause some horses will try and eat the groceries, some don't like the plastic bag.

  6. I teach little kids how to ride and they love this one... Horse bowling. What you do is you set up cones (or whatever you choose) just like pins. Then I have the kids walk over the cones and see how many they knock over... They love it! Although, you may want to spice it up a bit if you are more experienced. Maybe canter through it as long as your horse doesn't jump it?

Another game we play only when it has recently rained and the ground is still soft... We have one cone set up and every one has a spoon with a golf ball balanced on it. Going at what ever speed you like, as you pass the cone fling the golf ball and try to get it to land the closest to the cone. It shouldn't bounce off the ground if it is soft enough.

Red light green light at what ever speed...

This isn't really a game... but pair riding is also a lot of fun.

    Hope this helped!

  7. My riding teacher had us play one.

We would be at one end of the arena and she would have a magazine at the other end.

One at a time she would call out page numbers, we would ride as fast as we could to the magazine, hop off, tear out the page then ride back.

She would time each of us and the fastest person won.

It works best if you have a magazine with a lot of pages or you can also have a box of magazines and have to find a page in a specific magazine.

  8. no it's almost perfect if, you like it that is because that's all that matters.

  9. Have you ever tried the Mounted Games?

    Here's their website:  http://www.usmga.us/

They do relay races in teams of 4 or 5 minutes, including  picking up rings from poles with wooden swords, bursting balloons from horseback and putting flags into cones on the ground.   It's great fun.

    Some non-relay games include:

Catalog race (pick a number out of a bag, then race to the far end of the arena where there's a catalog.  Find the page corresponding to your number, tear it out, race back.  Fastest time wins)

Flag race (grab a flag out of a bucket of dirt on one side of the arena, race around the far end, then plant it in a bucket of dirt on the other side of the arena.  5 second penalty for not planting it; 10 second penalty for not grabbing it.  Fastest time wins)

Keyhole (race to the far end through two cones, turn around, back out through the cones, and back.  Fastest wins)

If one person is better or has a faster horse, you can make these timed events more interesting by having everyone go twice, then giving the win to the person whose two times are closest together.

    Have fun!

  10. Tag is also a really fun game when you're in a group. There is also a relay race I did in Pony Club. There are four poles and a barrel at each end of the line. There are four mugs on the barrel at the starting point. When it's time to start, the first person grabs a mug, runs to a pole, puts the mug on the pole, then runs down to the other barrel at the end, then weaves back through the poles to the other teammates. Then the second person goes and does the same thing. First team to get all the mugs on the poles wins. You can have more or less poles if you want and  there has to be at least as many poles as there are teammates so everyone gets a turn.

Another game is where you and a partner hold a piece of toilet paper between you guys while you're on the horse. Then you have to race another couple to the end of the arena and back without breaking the piece of toilet paper. It's really fun and I hope you enjoy my ideas!

    Hope this makes any sense!!!

  11. What about Barrel racing type games? Pole bending, keyhole etc

  12. This website has a couple fun games (The game names and descriptions are on the right hand side)...

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...

Sorry, it has a couple of the games you didn't want, but it still has some other fun sounding games :) have fun!

  13. Yes, 4 corners. One horse in the middle then you walk around and go to corner 1, 2, 3, and 4 and the one in the middle counts to 20 and closes their eyes then randomly choses. It's super fun
