God of War 4, FIFA 12 for the PlayStation Vita, The Last of Us, Hitman Absolution and Resident Evil 6 are just a few games everyone should keep an eye for in 2012
2011 has been a great year for gaming, there can be no doubt about that. Games such as Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, among others
have made the past 365 days more than just a little memorable.
Yet, with the New Year comes new promises and new experiences, none more so than in the gaming world, but which games should everyone be getting excited about?
God of War 4
Whether the listing of God of War 4 on a popular retail website was an accident or whether it done intentionally to tease the world about its existence is a mystery. In fact, the entire game is shrouded in mystery.
The developers of the previous God of War titles have confirmed that they are working on a new project and despite the fact that Kratos, the game’s protagonist, seemingly kills himself in the previous game, it seems the series is set to continue.
We probably should have mentioned the potential for spoilers in this article, but oh well...
FIFA 12 (PlayStation Vita)
EA Sports are busy showing off their latest FIFA game which is set to be released for the PlayStation Vita and seem rather proud of it. It boasts the same engine as its console counterpart and makes full use of the Vita’s extra touch control features.
Shooting, passing and selecting players can all be done via the portable gaming device’s touch screen and touch pad.
Hitman Absolution:
Everything we have seen of the game so far makes us want this game that much more. From its beautifully shot cinematic trailer, which shows the game’s bald protagonist in all of his cold calculated glory to the gameplay trailer that looked more cinematic
than it had any right to, Absolution looks set to be a great game.
The graphics, the atmosphere, the gameplay, the story and even the way the levels are designed seem to remain true to the classic Hitman ethos, yet at the same time they seem to have been expanded and refined so that they fit in with the current generation
of consoles.
So far it looks like a must buy.
The Last of Us
To call the Last of Us a tease would be an understatement. The game was announced via two brief teaser trailers which hinted at what the game was about, before it was finally given a full blown reveal at the Spike VGA awards.
The biggest surprise was the fact that Naughty Dog, the developers of the brilliant Uncharted series, were at the helm. The cinematic trailer for the game seemed to give off the same high production value feeling that the studios previous titles did and
that alone should be enough to convince almost everyone to buy the game.
Yet, very little is known at this point and the game may not even hit shelves in 2012, however, any news about the promising title would be welcome, and it surely is one to keep an eye out for.
