Gamma Ray Burst?

I want to know more about gamma ray bursts, and eventually do a science fair project on it in my junior year. My brother got 3rd in the international science fair and now i really need a good idea, because otherwise i will crash and burn. So i want to do something on GRB's (gamma ray burst's). I want to know more about them, and actually do REAL SCIENCE!! SOmething that would get me into the international fair, not something like growing mold! Something that a real scientist would do in a research facility. I am a freshman in highschool and have 2 years and am actually pretty smart. Also i have almost unlimited resources and funding. Anything that would help and let me know.

  1. First, use google scholar and a local university library with lots of technical journals to find out what is known, and what is left to be figured out, about GRBs.  Pick some issue that is unresolved and figure out if it is something you can address.

Then, you're going to need to find a gamma ray detector, either by building your own, borrowing one, or collaborating with someone who already has one.  Here are the available technologies:

Also, googling "ground-based gamma ray burst detection" will allow you to figure out which of the available technologies might be useful for terrestrial applications.

Unlimited resources and funding are good, you're going to need them.  :-)
