The Malaysian badminton king Lee Chong Wei launched a fund raising campaign for ill-fated domestic shuttler Gan Cheng Wei and he received bundles of thanks from the family of the suffering player.
Former state player of Johor Bahru, Cheng Wei has been diagnosed with blood cancer and he is undergoing an expensive chemotherapy treatment.
World Number one shuttler Chong Wei visited local shuttler in hospital and Cheng Wei’s sister Mei Ying expressed her gratitude by saying that his visit perked up her brother who always has adored the maestro.
She said, "The only time that he actually forgot about his disease and smiled was when Lee visited him a couple of weeks ago. My brother has always idolised him."
Mei Ying also added that despite of suffering from leukemia, her brother is confident to win this encounter and he is eagerly waiting for the day when he will be back in the court.
She said, "Although he is in pain, he is determined to return and play badminton."

Mei Ying said, "We are very thankful for the financial support. Our parents are retired and our four other siblings are chipping in what they can to pay for his treatment."
Meanwhile, the Malaysian ace Chong Wei, who was also there in the ceremony, requested the badminton lovers to pray for a speedy recovery of the youngster.
Moreover he also showed his concern by saying that he will meet 19-year-old Cheng Wei again after some improvement.
