Garage door rollers, replace

i have 4 in metal and would like to repace them with nylon, witch is better the 4 in or the 7 in?

  1. I assume you are talking about the length of the shaft and not the dimension of the rollers.  Sorry, all I've ever seen is metal ball bearings.

  2. If you buy good quality rollers, nylon is better and quieter. They also have a higher lifecycle. Put 7" rollers in the top and bottom and 4" in between. The 7" rollers will help keep the door in the track if you ever break a door cable. You can of course use all 7". Be very careful with the bottom roller. 7" might be too long to fit. Cut off excess with a hacksaw. Also bend door track to pop roller out, do not remove bracket. It is attached to the door cable and springs and taking it off WILL make bad thing happen.
