Question:

Garage floors?

I am trying to find either some cleaner or suggestions for our Garage Floor. It's dingy, greasy, and I would like to clean it up, shine it up, to hopefully restore some of it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. A good degreaser and elbow grease, perhaps a pressure washer. That's about all one can do.You might look at floor paints.

    Just some thoughts

  2. Have it sandblasted or powerwashed, and get it stained. No paint or epoxy will last.

  3. Hello.  Using a good degreaser or non-acid garage floor cleaner will do wonders.  Because this is a garage and I assume that there will be cars driving in and out on a regular basis, I would not advise using paints or sealers since the areas where the tire tracks will be will wear our much faster than the rest of the garage.

Depending on how much work and expense you are wanting to go through, you could use a quality epoxy paint for the floor to spruce it up.  I am talking about commercial quality epoxies for the floor just from my experience working with them compared to the kits you can now get at the local home improvement stores.  Epoxy paints have a much harder surface than latex or enamel paints.  Epoxy is also resistant to acids and most oils will not penetrate the surface. Meaning it will last much longer that other methods.  Down side to the epoxy is cost and you have to know how to properly install the epoxy in order to get a proper bond and surface finish.

I hope this helps with your question or at least gives you some more ideas.

  4. if you clean it with a good degreaser than go to your local home store you can get some deck paint or stain that will make it look brand new

    good luck
