  1. You should be able to buy a cheap disposal, all the necessary tools [not many], for under $100 and put it in yourself. It is not that hard.

  2. the price for a disposal varies  dramatically, you can get one for 100 dollars and they go all the way up to 600 or so  , it depends on the brand and model , to have it installed i would say at least 120 -140, how do you know it has broken ? was it humming and than stopped ? if so it either shut off on thermal overload or the little red reset button on the bottom  has popped out , you can reset it by  pressing the button , than get an allen key and put it in the center bottom of the unit and give it a turn clockwise and counter clockwise until the jammed rag breaks free, make sure the electric is off to the disposal and NEVER put your hand down in that disposal  EVER

  3. If is truly dead, replacing it is really not that expensive. You can pick up a new one for around $150 and might pay around $50-$100 to install it. If you get the same brand, you may be able to install it yourself since the drain and sink connection will probably be the same.

If the motor just hums because it jammed up, you can probably repair it. It may cost around $100 if no parts are required to get a serviceman out to fix it.

  4. You can do it yourself for under 80$.Find a friend that's handy.Think.I know you know someone that could do it for you. For little. It's really not that challenging.Good luck.
