Garbine Muguruza considers Tennis as her life – Tennis News
World number 110, Garbine Muguruza, enjoyed her time at the courts in 2012. The 19-year-old Spaniard amused everyone with her ability to power down some big names at such a young age.
She was nowhere in the news until March; played Challengers and qualifiers of the Women Tennis Association tournaments.
However, her tremendous breakthrough at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami helped her to make a name for herself. Out of nowhere, the 19-year-old Spaniard reached the fourth round of one of the most prestigious events on the tour.
The cracking performance opened up the gateway for the study on her personal background and that revealed something extraordinary. She was born at her motherland Venezuela but her dad shifted to his hometown in Spain where she grew up.
Moreover, the Spaniard loved tennis from the beginning. She stated, “Tennis is my life. My brothers were already playing it by the time I was born and I immediately wanted to give it a go. I knew it was for me. Nothing gave me more pleasure than taking to
the courts and playing with the kids of my age.”
She trained at the Bruguera Academy in Barcelona and always praises her coaches who helped her in developing some of the most powerful traits in the field of tennis.
She added, “I've spent so much time at the Bruguera Academy. I started there when I was so young. It's always been amazing for me there. I've always felt loved and evolved as a player there. The daily routine was tough but a lot of fun, as I was constantly
with people who did something that I liked.”
The youngster also hit the headlines after exiting the Grand Prix De Sar tournament at the quarter-final stage. Her victims include two of the most experienced players on the globe; Vera Zvonareva and Flavia Pennetta.
Muguruza continued to play ITF tournaments alongside the qualifying rounds of the WTA events. She reached the final at Bucharest after winning a title at Clearwater challenger events. It has been a successful season for the Spanish teenager who is looking
to back it up with a better result in 2013.
