Garcia: I usually do not make predictions but I will stop Khan in the ninth round – Boxing News
Nearly two months away from the big day, Amir Khan’s camp and Danny Garcia’s camp went face to face in a press conference in LA. Things heated up when Danny Garcia’s father and trainer Angel Garcia used disrespectful remarks against Khan. However, both the
fighters kept their cool, while other members of the camp exchanged words. Garcia told the media that he believes the fight will be a great one and fans would enjoy it.
When asked if he has ever been in the practice of taking illegal supplements to boost his stamina and power, Garcia replied, “I am clean, its part of the sport. I did it when I was an amateur.”
Since Amir Khan’s rematch against Peterson was cancelled on the basis of a positive drug test of Peterson, it has become a grave concern for Khan to ensure his opponents are drug free. Khan was disappointed over learning about Peterson’s drug test. Khan
currently stands with 26 wins, 2 losses and 18 knockouts, whereas Garcia is an unbeaten fighter with 23 victories and 14 knockouts.
Garcia further said, “It’s a big fight. I feel that every fight is a big fight fighting Khan. I feel like it’s another name. I usually don’t make predictions but I will stop him in the ninth. July 14 it’s going to be a great night, Khan is a great fighter.
You haven’t seen the best of me, I want to defend my title and July 14 I am still going to be champion.”
It should be noted here that Garcia demanded Khan to have his titles back to get the fight. However, now it seems like both fighters are comfortable with keeping the fight Danny’s WBC Light Welterweight title defence fight. However, Khan’s manager Asif Vali
made it clear earlier this week that if Khan gets his titles back through the IBF, then the Briton will put them on the line. Even Khan asserted that he wants to unify all three titles by beating Garcia. Khan is still waiting for the IBF to strip Peterson
off the titles in order to claim them back.
