RCD Espanyol’s four-game unbeaten run has come to an end after their shock 3-0 defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/CA-Osasuna-c38712, who are currently glued to the bottom of the Primera Division table
This defeat means Espanyol could not escape the relegation zone for at least this week as they now sit one spot above their opponents.
Striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Garcia, has revealed that no one expected them to lose to fellow strugglers, Osasuna.
“Nobody expected us to lose against Osasuna.”
The attacker went on to say that they regretted the manner in which they lost the match, especially when their intention was to win and get out of the drop zone.
“It was a pity that the game got away from us as we wanted to win, to get out of the relegation zone after four games without defeat.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player has also commented on the fact that his team was better recently, since they went undefeated for four consecutive matches. However, he admitted that his team did not do what they wanted to do and as
a result of that they suffered this painful defeat.
“We were in a phase where we were playing well, but the truth is that we did not do the things we had intended.”
The 29-year-old has bemoaned the crucial chances missed, referring to the two occasions his side were very unfortunate after hitting the post. He believes had those two chances went in then things would have been different now.
“If either of the chances when we hit the post had gone in, perhaps it would have been a different result, but that was not to be.”
The forward is now urging his teammates to work harder and ensure that they never suffer a defeat like this.
“We must now continue to work to never again suffer a result like this.”
Meanwhile, there have been reports suggesting Espanyol coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pochettino, could leave the club soon.
El Mundo Deportivo, a Barcelona-based newspaper has published reports that Pochettino is headed to the exit doors after this painful and costly loss.
With an away win record of just 30%, it will be difficult for Espanyol to get a positive result when they travel to the Mestalla stadium on this weekend.
